Doo-Wop Shoo-Bop

Off Broadstreet Theatre will open its latest production “Doo-Wop Shoo-Bop” Friday. The show will run at 8:15 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through June 21 at Off Broadstreet’s Commercial Street location in Nevada City. “It is June 20, 1966, the end of that year’s U.S. Open, and four singing golf caddies known as “The Par Four” are entertaining at the Tiki Lounge And Typhoon Bar in downtown San Francisco. During the course of their program, they share stories of their origin as a singing group as well as observations on the game of golf and life in general. Fast-paced and unique, the creative doo-wop group’s program provides plenty of laughs and includes two dozen hit songs from the early 1960s, including their own versions, which they say they have “Par-ified,” according to Off Broadstreet Theatre. For this production, Jed Dixon returns to the Off Broad stage, joined by Andrew Kerr and OBS newcomers JR Lewis and Isaias Acosta. Live musical accompaniment is provided by veteran OBS keyboardist Katie Baker and choreography by Lyra Dominguez. This is the third production in Off Broadstreet’s 25 year anniversary season celebrating “A Half Century of Awesome Music.” TIckets are $25 and available by calling 530-265-8686. There is a 2 p.m. matinee June 1 for $23 as well. Show options Hide options Additional options Avoid highways Avoid tolls KM Miles Get Directions Print...
