Move over, Jersey Boys, “The Par Four” have utterly captivated local
audiences in Off Broadstreet’s latest musical offering, “Doo-Wop
Shoo-Bop,” currently enjoying an extended run at the Nevada City cabaret
theatre.  “In our twenty-five years in business, we’ve never seen
anything like this,” says the group’s creator, Off Broadstreet owner John
Driscoll.  “We’ve had to extend the run of the show twice.”  Playing to
consistently sold-out houses, Doo-Wop Shoo-Bop was to have closed on June
21st but is now scheduled to continue Fridays and Saturdays through July
5th.

The new quartet’s huge success is due to their uniquely superior vocal
blend, combined with their engaging individual personalities and the
vibrant musical arrangements of keyboardist Katie Baker and imaginative
choreography by both Lyra Dominguez and John Driscoll.  Jed Dixon, JR
Lewis, Andrew Kerr and Isaias Acosta appear as “Howie,” “Dwayne,” “Mitch”
and “Carlos,” four doo-wop singing golf caddies at the 1966 US Open in
San Francisco.

Says Driscoll, “The audiences are so blown away with the show and the
talent that they keep asking ‘Where are these guys playing next?’” After
“Doo-Wop Shoo-Bop” closes, The Par Four are planning to make themselves
available for hire for private events and parties both locally and
regionally.  Driscoll plans to market the show to other venues and has
his sights set on the group appearing at next year’s US Open in
Washington.  There are also plans for the show to return to Off
Broadstreet in the future, either in its original form or as a sequel.
